Cando Card

In 2009 Ecardz won the contract to supply Cando Metro cards to the students of the Canterbury region. As part of this project, Ecardz takes photos on site at many of the Canterbury Secondary schools and then supplies Cando branded ID cards for the students.

From 2011 the Cando card has also been a working bus pass, it is a smartcard which allows the cardholder to load value onto the chip for fare payment on the Christchurch Metro buses.

How do I get Cando card?

If you school is participating in the Cando Program, a card will be issued to you before March the 31st each year. Other wise got to www.ecardz.co.nz click on Cando and download the manual order form and follow the instructions.

What happens if I lose my Cando card?

If a registered Cando card is lost or stolen, it is the responcibity of the cardholder to inform Environment Canterbury. Environment Canterbury will deactivate any registered cards. Deactivation will take place the next working day following the notification of the lost or stolen card. A new Cando card will be issued once the issuing fee has been paid and remaining value may be transferred to the new card.

Where can I use my Cando card?

On any Metro or ferry services within the greater Metro area.

How do I load money on my Cando card?

To first activate the card, a minimum of $10 must be loaded.

Cards can be loaded at the Central station ,Metro Office or at a an approved Metro Agent and on participating buses and ferries, If the Cando Metro card has been loaded, reloads can be completed via the internet using an approved credit card. Reloads are restricted to $10. Eftpos is available at the Central station and service centres only.

Please got to www.ecardz.co.nz click on Cando and download the manual order form and follow the instruction.

Who is eligible?

Students who are currently involved in study within the Canterbury region and are under the age of 18 years of age.
